RE: End of another season.....most memorable experience.....

Although having a pair of bighorn sheep wandering through the site next to ours was exciting, the best memories this year came fron our daughter-in-law's very first camping trip. Both kids and their spouse/SO slept in tents (although the grandson slept in the TT with us), and our DIL is already looking forward to next year's camping trip!

RE: Fall trips

We're heading up Cottonwood Pass once more later this week, then it'll be time to put the TT away for the season :( On the other hand, we picked up this year's ski passes today... :)

RE: Danali and dutchmen trailers

We bought our Dutchmen 18b last year, and have had no problems at all with it. We split our camping time about evenly between NFS campgrounds and open camping and have been quite pleased.

RE: Had to laugh.

A woman just let her dog dump in a gravel area, close to the horse shoe pits. She covers it with hand fulls of gravel. She then visits with some people, and manages to step in her own pile :B In her own pile? Or in her dog's pile? This I gotta see... Maybe not.

RE: Hi Everyone! What's Up?

We're heading out after church Sunday, gonna meet my sister and her DH for a couple days of dry camping. Next week it'll be just the 2 of us in a well-hidden spot we just found ;)

RE: Leadville, Colorado - Restaurants and Unique Places???

Quincy's restaurant has only one item on the menu - Sunday thru Thursday it's filet mignon, Friday & Saturday it's prime rib. Very good steak at a very low price. The Columbine Cafe is my favorite for breakfast and lunch, and Casa Blanca for Mexican food. Matilda's is a little harder to find but serves good homemade Mexican food. Rosie's Brewpub has good food and home-brewed beers. If you're not used to high altitude, remember to drink lots of water and take it easy the first day or two up here. Enjoy your visit!

Altitude Adjustment on Honda eu2000i

I just got my new generator. I can't think of any place I camp that's below 8000 feet, so I need to get the carburetor set for high altitude. Could any readers here recommend a place in Colorado that could do a good job of this? Thanks...

RE: What does your car get for MPG? Just for fun!

Around 23 MPG in the 4Runner if it's not towing anything. Around 18 MPG in the Jeep unless I'm 4-wheeling in the back country. But then, a trip to work and back involves crossing the continental divide twice. I'm sure they'd do better on flat roads at sea level...

RE: Trip to Colorado

If you take US 50 from Pueblo, consider taking CO 9 from just north of Canon City to where it joins US 24 near Hartsel, then follow 24 to BV. That's the route we usually take to/from visiting our kids in Texas. It's not as curvy or crowded as 50 is where it follows the Arkansas, but you would need to keep an eye out for deer.

RE: Medical question for anyone that can help

You've referred to a pair of rhythm disturbances in the upper chambers (atria) of the heart. Atrial fibrillation, or a-fib, is when these two chambers quiver in an uncoordinated manner rather than beating normally. Atrial flutter, or a-flutter, is when the atria beat in an inefficient, fast but rhythmic manner. Both conditions can be quite uncomfortable but are rarely in themselves life threatening. The shock you got actually stops the atria from beating momentarily so that your heart's natural pacemaker can begin coordinating heartbeats normally. Keep in mind that one of the more important logic mistakes we try to avoid in medicine is "Post hoc ergo propter hoc," which means "After this therefore because of this." While the cause of your new onset of leg weakness is certainly worth pursuing, don't be surprised if it's not directly related to the cardioversion. Hope all turns out well.

RE: big meadows co.

Big Meadows isn't an RV park, it's a NFS campground. I haven't camped there for more than 20 years but remember it as a nice place to camp with a good lake right there. I suppose you could go into the town of Del Norte if you want a shower but I don't know if there's a truck stop there of if you'd need to get a motel room for the day.

RE: Do I have a leak?

The title of this thread reminds me of a stay in a motel down south a few years back. Called the front desk and said, "I got a leak in my sink." The guy said, "Go ahead." :)

RE: My Top 5 Favorite Campsites

1. The one where I walked to a spot and caught several really big trout. 2. The one where nobody knows about and I can spend the week in the pines with no neighbors. 3. The one where we "broke in" the camper. ;) 4. The one where the neighbor was sunbathing in a place she was sure she couldn't be seen. 5. The one where the whole family gathers once a year. Pretty soon we'll need a bigger spot as the family grows and the tents turn into 5ers. As usual, the exact locations of all the above are classified...

RE: helmet law??????

On the other hand, I see more an more skier wearing helmets. I was even considering to buy one at after season sale. Still got the sticker shock. My helmet keeps my head nice and warm while I'm skiing. As far as sticker shock is concerned, I remember what an old motorcyclist told me once: "If all you've got is a five dollar head, get a five dollar helmet." Puts it all in perspective...
